CALIFORNIA CITY - Matrix Motors Company Inc. is poised to begin
construction of an 83,000-square-foot facility on 7.5 acres at the Airport
Industrial Park in the next 30 days following Thursday's approval by the
city redevelopment agency and city council.

The two bodies also approved preliminary plans for the Inn at Tierra del
Sol at the golf course. Construction hinges on completing final plans and
securing financing, said City Manager Jack Stewart.

Glass windshields for cars, trucks and recreational vehicles and racing
body composites will be produced at the Matrix plant, which is projected to
cost $5 million when complete, Stewart said. Grading of the site at the
40-acre park off Lindberg Drive will begin in the next 10 days.

Matrix has committed to 30 jobs in the first year, 45 in the second year and
60 in the third year, Stewart said. Eventually, they project the need for 100
employees, he added. The city is supplying $1.3 million for the project, plus
installing infrastructure at a cost of $235,000, Stewart said.

The 50-room Inn at Tierra del Sol will be built on California City Boulevard
beside the bridge and near the 13th hole on the golf course, Stewart said.
The location will provide nine holes to the north of the inn and nine holes to
the south, so golfers can make a stop halfway through a round, he said.
Within five years, developers project they will add a restaurant and cart
barn and enlarge the inn to 160 rooms.

The initial phase, being proposed by Four Star Construction, Silver Saddle
and Bob Dacey, who manages the pro shop under a contract with the golf
course, will cost about $1.4 million, with the final project costing about $4
                    million, Stewart said.
