Edwards Air Force Base, California — The 2003 Open House and Air Show at Edwards is scheduled for Oct. 25 and 26, 2003 with the gates opening at 7 a.m. and the flying tentatively set to begin at 9 a.m. and the event closing at 4:30 p.m. There is no admission or parking fee. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds (http://www.airforce.com/thunderbirds/), and several other aerial demonstrations are scheduled to appear at this event, which will celebrate 100 yeas of powered flight. This event showcases the aircraft systems and capabilities of the Air Force Flight Test Center, NASA Dryden Flight Research Center, the Air Force Research Laboratory Propulsion Directorate, Marine Aircraft Group 46 and other local and visiting units.
During the two-day event, visitors will see new and unique aircraft
in the Air Force inventory, and some of the best aerial demonstration pilots
and teams performing today. The various demonstrations are tentatively
set to include Air Force aircraft such as the F/A-22, F-117,
F-16, KC-135, C-17,B-1,
which will attempt to set up to 52 official world records, B-2, B-52, as
well as NASA aircraft among others. This is also a once-a-year opportunity
for taxpayers to see the kind of equipment they buy for the Air Force,
and the abilities of the people who test, fly and maintain this equipment.
