Watch Out
for Bait "n" Switch Carpet Cleaners
You see a low advertised price for
carpet cleaning, you think Great Deal! When the cleaner comes to your home, they
switch the advertised price to a higher cost & high pressure you with
the excuse of additional ad-ons needed to clean your carpet.
Which Cleaning
Method Should I Use?
Some beliefs
are that all carpet cleaning is the same, well that is short of the truth.
There are two types of carpet cleaning, Steam Cleaning AKA "Hot Water Extraction"
& Dry Cleaning AKA "Spin Cloth Bonnet Cleaning".
Let's start
with Dry Cleaning First.
The hard truth is dry cleaning does
not thoroughly clean your carpets, here's why; the most popular dry-chem
cleaning company advertises their carbonated solution when sprayed on the
carpet, suspends & explodes heavy dirt particles, followed by a cloth
bonnet rotating across the carpet to pick up the dirt particles.
Exploding sandy grit? Suspending heavy particles? I would definitely question
this. This method is a surface clean only; it doesn't pull out that sandy
gritparticles embedded in your fiber that your vacuum cannot suck out.
Another dry cleaning method sprinckles a dry powder across your carpet,
followed by a rotary scrubber (kinda like those old push forward manual
lawn mowers), this supposedly agitates the powder to remove the dirt, spots,
& stains. The last step, they vacuum this powder up in a standard vacuum
cleaner. "Yikes". Imagine wetting your hair in the shower, apply shampoo,
and instead of rinsing the shampoo out of your hair you just towel dry
your hair. I think you get the picture Yuk!!
Steam Cleaning
"Hot Water Extraction".
Steam cleaning
is the most effective cleaning method today, if done correctly. The leading
carpet manufacturers recommend this method. However, you must be careful
when selecting a steam cleaner, some only use portable extraction units
that come into your home and the results are soaked and a un-clean finished
looking carpets. Truck-Mounted steam cleaning units are the best way to
have your carpets clean! These little power plants placed in a Vehicle
generate high water
pressure,
heat, and suction. Not a small box unit brought in to your house that requires
your bath water. Though steam cleaning is very effective, caution is needed.
You'll see many steam cleaners bragging about how their super duper truck
mount unit will out clean everyone else & guarantee a fast dry time.
Well the truth is most truck mounted units if well maintained achieve a
great cleaning result. As far as dry time, realistically expect 6-12 hours.
That's correct, a half day. Taken
one step futher,
City
to City utilizes Flo-Thru Wand technology which is a more efficient
recovery system allowing our clients the benefit of 2-4 hours dry
time. Additionally, we use up to 700 p.s.i. of pressure to really
blast out deeply embedded soils from the fiber, rinsing it completely CLEAN.
Chemicals
used!
Majority of carpet cleaners use
harsh, soapy cleaners that can cause rash irritation & leave behind
soapy residue in your carpet. This can cause dirt to re-attract to your
carpet's fiber & leaving itfeeling stiff. Again, City to City
only uses an all Natural Soap-Free Rinse. |
