A 40 acre industrial park will adjoin the California
City Municipal Airport. Cost of the project will be funded by an $815,000
grant, $265,000 from the city's redevelopment agency treasury, and $550,000
from EDA funds from the U.S. Department of Commerce, to be used for expansion
of electrical, water, sewer and street improvements. Currently in the final
stages of engineering, plans call for two buildings to be built on speculation.
One will be 30,000 square feet, and the other will be 20,000 square feet.
The Kern Economic Development will assist California City Economic Development
Corporation in marketing the project.

liability. Therefore, a company currently importing components for final
assembly here will likely find significant benefits from being in the FTZ.
The following is a partial list of the many
benefits you can attain when using Foreign-Trade Zones or Foreign-Trade
Zone Subzone:
Duty reductions fall on the finished goods to a greater degree than
the parts and components that make up the finished product. Duty
rate reduced to the ZERO Rate on the finished goods, down from the higher
rates levied upon on the sum of the components. Flexibility and compatibility
with international trans-shipment. Elimination of delays in customs clearances
and duty drawback procedures. Discounts on cargo insurance rates due to
FTZ security.
No Duty is ever paid on re-exported merchandise from a Foreign-Trade
Zone if the merchandise is sold domestically, no duty is paid until it
leaves the FTZ or zones. Generally, No Duty is paid on waste or yield loss
in a Foreign Trade Zone or Subzone.
Duty on scrap is eliminated or reduced in a Foreign-Trade Zone.
Generally, if foreign merchandise is manufactured within a Foreign-Trade
Zone or Subzone into a product with a lower duty rate, then the lower duty
rate applies on the foreign content when duty is paid
merchandise in a Foreign Trade Zone may be stored, repackaged, manipulated,
manufactured, destroyed or otherwise altered or changed. Opportunity to
hold merchandise subject to U.S. quotas until the quotas reopen. Elimination
of duties on labor.
