Small business lending fair planned
March 24 at California City Airport
CALIFORNIA CITY - Small business owners from throughout eastern Kern County are invited to attend a March 24 lending fair at the municipal airport.
"This is the first time we've had a lending fair here, airport manager Tom Weil said. "We want people from all over east Kern to attend."
On hand will be representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to describe various lending plans available to small businesses through its Business and Industry guaranteed loan program. The department channels the funds to local banks and credit unions who then make the loans to local businesses
In a letter to potential participants, rural development specialist Lee T. Takikawa said the USDA Rural Development is committed to building "stronger, more vibrant rural communities." Takikawa will be the keynote speaker.
On March 24, the USDA will speak to banking officials from throughout the region at 10:30 a.m. After a lunch break USDA will address small business owners, explaining how to qualify for the loans. Weil said business owners should plan to attend both sessions. Slated to attend are representatives from Mojave Desert Bank, Bank of the Sierra, AltaOne Federal Credit Union, Borrego Springs Bank, Bank of America, Bank of the West, and Antelope Valley Ban
Also expected to attend are representatives of the California City Chamber of Commerce, and the Weill Institute Small Business Development Center. For more information, call Weil at 760.373.4867. To reserve a seat, call 559.276.7494 ext.134.
