CALIFORNIA CITY: The California City Planning Commission, reduced to four members by a resignation, voted unanimously to continue their discussion of mixed use zoning to elicit more definitive guidance from staff on fire safety rules.
Although city staff had recommended a two-hour fire rating for "The Lofts" which are being considered for construction at the California City Studios in Wonder Acres, commission members were uncertain exactly what a 2-hour fire rating actually meant and where in the structure it would be required.
The commission was reduced to four members by the recent resignation of chairman Pierre Poudevigne who gave personal reasons as his reason for resigning. The city council at lest week's meeting approved keeping the commission at four members for the three months remaining before approval of the commission comes before the council.
With Poudevigne's resignation commission vice-chairman Bill Dennis became the new chairman and the commission appointed Marv Sass as the new vice-chair at this week's meeting.
In other action at this week's meeting, the commission approved the agenda calendar for the year which sets meeting dates and deadlines for each meeting. The commission normally meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at City Hall at 6 p.m.
