New developer plans to begin hotel soon
52-unit project to begin in January
BY BILL DEAVER
CALIFORNIA CITY - Construction of the long-awaited "Inn at Tierra Del Sol" is expected to begin in January, city council members sitting as the city's redevelopment agency learned Tuesday evening.
The RDA approved a request to transfer the development agreement for the project from Tierra Del Sol LLC Partners to a Santa Maria firm.
City Manager Jack Stewart said representatives of Oceanside Development have met with city staff on the project, which includes a 52-unit hotel, a clubhouse with restaurant, and driving range.
The existing pro shop will be relocated and the golf course rearranged to have a front- and back-nine.
12 acres will be available for commercial development between the course and city hall along California City Boulevard.
Mayor Larry Adams said he wants city building department and engineering
staff to "be facilitators" rather than obstruct the project, as has happened
in the past.
