OHV enthusiasts flock to California City High Desert on Thanksgiving weekend.

Enjoying good weather and a four-day weekend, off-highway vehicle enthusiasts flocked to East Kern desert during the Thanksgiving holidays, leaving money at area businesses and keeping public-safety services busy.

The next big OHV weekend is expected to be New Years Day, which falls on a Thursday, making another four-day holiday.

Walters said he and members of the team plan to be ready for what could be even more than the estimated 25,000 people who visited the desert - plus those in the California City area - this past weekend.

VILLAGE - Rider at Camp D takes to the air with recreational vehicles forming a temporary "village" in the background. Similar encampments spring up around popular OHV areas on long fall, winter, and spring weekends.
